Poppy Seed Studio is a Vintage Style Gift Gallery, located in the Historic, Downtown, District of an old New England mill town on the Salmon Falls River in Somersworth, New Hampshire. This beautiful and eclectic shop is the creation of of designer, Sherry Soldati-Pratt. Sherry opened Poppy Seed Studio almost a nine years ago with her husband Jeff Pratt. Together they forged their way through two major space renovations and the economic recession. "Creativity and determination are our daily mantras." says Sherry "This shop is the culmination of my life's work...My absolute dream come true."

    Sherry began her career in retail sales as a teenager selling jewelry at a busy Hampton Beach boutique. She then studied Art History at the University of New Hampshire, while working at a local, family run jewelry store in her home town of Hampton, New Hampshire. Her professional career began when she worked at The Artworks Gallery in Portsmouth, N.H., where she curated art shows, designed custom framing and began traveling to major trade shows while assisting the buyer. She continued her carreer working at the N.W. Barrett Gallery, also in Portsmouth. During her decade long employment, Sherry continued to refine her personal style, while increasing her talents as a successful buyer and sales associate of fine crafts and art, including precious metal and gemstone jewelry. While she was working for the N.W. Barrett Gallery, she was also buying and selling antiques at the local antique shops. "I have always loved history and collecting," she says "so being an antique dealer just seemed natural." 

It was during her leave from retail sales to stay at home with her two children, that Sherry filled a creative void by enrolling in a jewelry making class at a League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Shop.  "I just adore gemstones and loved manipulating the metal." she says "Jewelry is truely a passion." 

   When the opportunity to open her own shop occured in 2003, she new it was exactly what she needed to do. " I jumped in head first...without fear...without reservation.  Poppy Seed Studio reflects my love of; history, vintage, antiques, fine art, fine crafts, jewelry, fashion, nature and travel. I choose every item with care and intent...for their uniqueness and their beauty. The shop truely is an expression of who I am.
